Marital
Song of Solomon exemplifies many great themes for marriage
- The narrative pictures an authentic love of the kind found in I Cor 13:4-7 - a love that is selfless, seeking the mutual good, lasting through all things - reflected in the forgiveness and mutual regard between the parties
- In the context of a committed covenant relationship it celebrates the joy of physical intimacy and becoming as one.
- There is a mutual admiration and appreciation of the beauty each finds in the other, and even helps each other be able to see it themselves. This is also echoed and reinforced by their friends' words.
- It displays a faithful relationship from tested loyalty and commitment. This brings back I Cor 13:7-8a ending with 'Love never fails'.
